Electric resistance is an important parameter for soil electroosmosis.In order to study the resistance of soil in electroosmosis field,the electric resistance calculation model of clay was presented.The electric resistivity is one basic parameter of soil,which is mainly affected by such factors as water content,porosity ratio and saturation degree.The three-phase parallel resistivity model for clay was established,and the calculating formula of electric resistivity was given.According to the relationship between electric resistivity and resistance,the formulations of soil resistance under parallel electrode,circle electrode and hexagonal electrode were derived.The results of laboratory tests show that the calculated results are similar to the measured ones for Hangzhou clay with the water content above 25% and saturation degree over 50%.The resistance calculation of clay provides a simple and convenient method for estimating the resistance of soil in practical engineering.
