Multiband artificial magnetic conductor surfaces

In this paper, multiband AMC surfaces have been studied using dipole arrays and polarisation independent fractal tripole arrays. Dual and triple band operation has been achieved using dipole AMCs. The angular response of the surfaces was very stable. The surface wave response of the structures has also been studied by means of dispersion diagrams and surface wave measurements. Wide band gaps are obtained with the defected structures with very narrowband modes emerging near the low cut off. Fractal tripole arrays have produced polarisation independent dual band AMC response. In addition a miniaturisation of the structure by 2:1 has been achieved. (4 pages)
