Postoperative cerebrospinal fluid fistulas and their treatment.

The incidence of cerebrospinal fluid fistulas on 2150 patients subjected to intracranial supra and subtentorial operations for non-traumatic lesions is reported. This incidence is higher in patients operated for posterior fossa lesions (3.7%) than in those operated for supratentorial lesions (0.94%) and among these is more frequent for frontal localizations. Finally therapeutical methods used for controlling this type of complication are reported.
