Understanding Anisotropy In Marine CSEM Data

We have studied the EM field distribution in anisotropic media and the impact of resistivity anisotropy on marine CSEM data. The effects of anisotropy may be significant for typical acquisition geometries and depend upon the transmitter-receiver geometry. We also show that different data components are affected differently. In general, the anisotropy of the overburden must be determined in order to make a reliable CSEM data interpretation.
