Ultrastructure of reticuloendothelial elements in guinea-pig bone marrow.

In an earlier investigation with the light microscope (Hudson & Yoffey, 1963) the reticuloendothelial elements of the bone marrow of guinea-pigs were studied following the intravenous injection of a fine suspension of carbon. The distribution of particulate matter, studied over a period of 28 days, enabled one to draw inferences related to the physiological activities of these elements. In a further investigation, the techniques of electron microscopy have been used in an attempt to throw light on the intracellular mechanisms involved.
