UWB Crossed Half Circle DISC Monopole Antenna

A novel cross-circle-plate with square top monopole antenna is proposed for the ultra-wideband (UWB) operations. The prototype of the antenna has been constructed and an impedance bandwidth from 2.8 GHz to 13 GHz has been obtained. Relatively good agreement between the measured and simulated return loss are obtained. The measured radiation patterns, which closely resemble the radiation pattern of a monopole, are also given in the paper.
