The solenoid actuator is an electromechanical device that converts the electrical signal into mechanical motion, and which is used to generate mechanical linear motion. Due to their simplicity, high reliability, and low cost, solenoid actuator is used as core components in automobile and aircraft industries, and also widely used in pneumatic valves, electric relays, and switches. To establish the ideal design technology of solenoid actuator for pneumatic valve operation, we must consider the detailed design conditions which are maximum attraction force, magnetic flux density, plunger shape, bobbin dimension, analysis of magnetic material, value of space factor, and coil temperature. And also, it is essential that manufactured goods must be same as the initial design condition. A manufacturing error of frequent occurrence is related to the coil which is unusual winding when turning the coil at the bobbin, irregular assembly between the bobbin and the yoke, and a short coil that occur from molding procedure. In this paper, we prove the effect of unusual winding coil on the motion of solenoid actuator through the experimental test. Four types of coil shape are used to test, and we compare the test results which are attraction force, temperature rising, and consumption power. The experimental test results were presented.
