With the rapid development of 100Gbit/s technology and its increased commercial applications, various different type of 100G optical transceiver modules have been designed and widely used, which leads to the difficulties of achieving interconnection between 100G switch or router due to their different optical interfaces. On the other hand, in order to increase the port density of 100G switch or router, the small form factor 100G optical modules, such as CFP4 and QSFP28 are developed and become standard. However, they do not contain 10 × 10G Ethernet interface. Furthermore, 100G network routers or switches do not provide slots for bigger CFP modules in most situations, this is due to port density and front panel space limitation. In this paper, we propose a novel 100G optical interface protocol converter based on 100G attachment unit interface, which can realize the communication between the switch or router with different 100G optical interfaces. The system can also provide a low cost solution to support transmission of 100GE.
