Simplified self-homodyne detection for optical OFDM with inserted pilot sub-samples and its application in downstream of optical access networks

A cost-effective and energy-efficient self-homodyne downstream scheme is proposed for WDM-PON with inserted pilot sub-samples and interferometer-based detection. A 10-Gbps self-homodyne OFDM downstream transmission is experimentally demonstrated over 20-km SSMF with error-free operations.
