Student team-based project without the angst: an exploratory study

The development of teamwork as a generic attribute is seen as an integral part of a university business degree that equips graduates with leadership and communication skills for the workplace. The purpose of this paper is to present an educational strategy that focuses on building flexibility into a team-based project. Through the use of blogs, an online communication technology, team members shared critical incident accounts of service experiences providing a richer and more diverse source of primary data to reflect and report on. The preliminary findings based on quantitative and qualitative data provided support for the strategy and addressed some of the drawbacks associated with university team-based projects. The paper concludes with suggestions for future improvement and refinement of the strategy, limitations of the study and directions for future research.
