Psychiatric Treatment of the Geriatric Patient in a Psychiatric Hospital Setting

HE geriatric patient-the patient 60 years old and older than that-has T beco~me a very great problem within the mental hospitals. With the increasing life expectancy in the world of today, the geriatric patient continues to increase in number in all branches of medicine. This increase has been reflected quite markedly in the mental hospitals. During 1957 and 1958 about 30 per cent of all new admissions to mental hospitals throughout the United States
