This research looks into transportation as a major contributor of environmental problems resulting to rapid economic growth leading to the increase of vehicle ownership. It identified the transport-related problems encountered in an urban community in Manila. It selected Zone 54 focusing on Barangay 552 along G. Tuazon Avenue, and Zone 56, Barangay 575, Balic-Balic, Sampaloc, Manila. Convenience sampling was used for choosing household residents. Written questionnaires and informal interviews helped in the collection of data and information regarding the residents' house, experiences and problems encountered. Photo documentation, observations, and field visits were done on areas through transect walk that describe and show location, routes, parking, and different type of vehicles. Secondary sources used include published and unpublished materials, internet articles and photos. The findings reveal that migration leads to the increase in population and change in income is related to one's economic status. It causes acquisition and change of car ownership attributed to environmental risks such as air pollution and heat generated experienced in the said area. These affect other elements which are intricately entwined with each other. The study recommends further investigations and research for the area is continuously developing, growing and evolving.
