Development ofOutdoor Service Robots

Theoutdoor service robots which we call OSR-01andOSR-02arepresently under development intended for cleaning up urban areasbymeans ofcollecting discarded trash suchasplastic bottles, cans,plastic bagsandsoon.Inthis paper,we mainly describe thearchitecture ofOSR-02whichconsists ofhardware such assensors,amanipulator, crawler structure, etc.forsearching andpicking up trash. After describing thesystems, we showtheresult ofopenexperiments inwhichOSR-02collected plastic bottles inthespecial zoneforrobot research anddevelopment inKitakyushu-city.
