Numerical Study and Verification on Roof Strength Test for a Low-top Truck Cab

To verify the strength and survival space of a low-top truck cab meeting the requirement of roof strength test according to GB 26512—2011(The protection of the occupants of the cab of a commercial vehicle) or not,cabin finite element model were created for numerical simulation with a manikin added on the driver seat.Roof strength test was numerical investigated according to GB 26512—2011.Deformation of the cab and variation of survival space were obtained and compared with real vehicle test results.The numerical results show that the low-top cab can satisfy the demands of roof strength test of GB 26512—2011 and the survival space is sufficient for the safety of driver or front seat passenger,numerical results and real vehicle test results agree well with each other.
