CRASH PULSE OPTIMISATION FOR MINIMUM INJURY RISK TO CAR OCCUPANTS

Passenger car structures are under development which will improve substantially the safety of car occupants. The basis for the development strategy is new knowledge of the biomechanics of injury and of the spectra of real life accidents occurring in Australia, plus new development tools for vehicle testing with instrumented dummies and numerical simulation with computer models. The result is a passenger car with a reduced injury risk to its occupants in the complex interaction between the occupants and the vehicle during a variety of crash types and impact speeds.
