RESEARCH ON THE RESONANT BOOSTER OF ULTRASONIC MOTOR DRIVING

Accompanying with the equivalent circuit of the ultrasonic motor (abbr. USM), this paper establishes a driving circuit using the resonant booster, which has no transformer included. The circuit is theoretically analyzed and verified by simulation through PSPICE software and experiments. The output voltage is almost linear proportional to the driving duty ratio and inversely proportional to the square root of the series inductance. The circuit is applied to the ring-type traveling-wave ultrasonic motor, of which stators diameter is 30mm. It is proved that this circuit is both feasible and reliable for the drive and control of small-power USM. Compared with the traditional controller of USM that has transformers, the driving device can be reduced by one-third in volume, one-half in weight and one-fifth in cost at least. It抯 easier for USM to realize production into integration.
