A new soft-switching AC-AC matrix converter, with a single actived commutation auxiliary circuit

This paper proposes a commutation auxiliary circuit (CAC) to obtain soft-commutation in a conventional AC-AC matrix converter. The CAC are placed out of the main power path and it is actived during the switching transitions only. The soft-commutation at all switches (ZVS for main switches and ZCS for auxiliary switch) are guaranteed independently of the load value and without voltage and current stress on power switches. The strategy for the selection of the source voltage is based on the fictitious DC-link technique. Operation principle, commutation analysis and the experimental results obtained from a laboratory prototype operating at 50 kHz and connected to three-phase line source, 110 V (/spl plusmn/10%), 60 Hz, are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed converter.<<ETX>>
