ON DATA ACQUISITION, MODELING AND SIMULATION OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC

In this paper, the authors describe the process for constructing a traffic simulation model based on online measurements of traffic parameters. The steps that are discussed include: data acquisition interfacing, data conditioning, modeling, and simulation. A caste study involving the modeling of traffic flows on the ring road around Antwerp in Belgium is discussed.
