Productivity improvement through quality approach wage incentives for production line workers

Abstract This paper presents a quality approach towards developing a wage incentive plan for production line workers. The plan rewards workers on the basis of the “loss-level” of their outputs. A sanitaryware manufacturing plant is used as the case where the wage incentive model development is based upon. Although the model “per se” is specific, the approach as clearly described in the paper can easily be applied to develop wage incentive models in other production systems.
