Hybrid Multilevel Inverter with Reduced Switches Topology

This paper proposes a novel single phase cascaded generalized reduced switch based hybrid MLI configuration that can generate maximum number of output voltage applicable to both symmetric as well as asymmetric DC voltage sources. A novel single phase hybrid MLI has been developed using minimum number of power electronics components. A unique feature of proposed topology is that it can be generalized up to n-levels also few discus parallel connection of MLI inverter in grid tied system. In order to generate gate pulses a level-shifted Pulse Width Modulation (LSPWM) technique has been proposed in this work. The optimum MLI structure is well applicable for medium and high voltage applications respectively. The experimental results are also presented here for the verification of the simulation results of MLI implemented using real-time simulator (dSPACE 1103) and harmonic spectrum of the inverter voltage using Fluke-434 power analyzer at different modulation indexes.
