Power source selection for operation at deepest ocean depths

The power sources examined are chemical, fuel cells, combustion and nuclear. The conclusion reached is that minimal present needs can be met by zinc-silver oxide or lead acid batteries. Higher energy requirements could be met by lithium-thionyl chloride primary batteries. It is concluded that future power needs will be higher. These future higher power needs will be met by two new developments, namely a substrated secondary battery and electrochemical compounds dissolved in thermal plastics
