Impacts of advanced traveler information systems: The case of the city of Patras

Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) are commonly used nowadays in order to provide various benefits to travelers. Their range of benefits range from more informed travelers on real-time traffic conditions of an area's road network to fuel savings and reduction of emissions. However their effectiveness is strongly rely on their acceptance by the users and the following reaction of the users in the provided information. The present paper presents a case study that examines the potential benefits of an ATIS deployed in the Greek city of Patras as well as the users' acceptance of the system.
