Prospects of application of DME in energy industry

In this paper,the characteristics of dimethyl ether(DME) are introduced,and the prospects of application of DME in energy industry,especially as an alternative to LPG and vehicle diesel,are discussed in detail.The key technologies,prospects and main obstacles of application of the systems using DME as fuel are analyzed.Based on a comparison of physical properties between dimethyl ether and related fuels,such as LPG,natural gas and diesel,the technical problems to be solved for the promotion of DME are analyzed.Suggestions on solving these problems are made,and the prospects of DME on the fuel market are forecasted.
