Design Method for the Convex-damping Rig of Roller Chain Drives in Moving Walkway

In the moving walkway, the vibration from the roller chains drives influences the stability of the whole systems greatly. Furthermore the vibration and noise mainly comes from the polygonal action which generates the longitudinal vibration of chains. However a convex rig on the guide rail is found to be able to offset the velocity fluctuation of chains from the polygonal action and virtually reduce the vibration. This paper explains the method at length and validates it by analyzing at a kinematical model. While the design procedure of the convex ring, and its fitting position, are also proposed. Finally through the simulation result it is verified that the convex rig could enhance the stability of the moving walkway.
