A Better Way to Go: Meeting America's 21st Century Transportation Challenges with Modern Public Transit

This report examines why rail, bus rapid transit (BRT) and other forms of public transit need to play a more prominent role in America’s future transportation system. It examines the challenges faced by America’s transportation system and the benefits of existing rail and bus projects. The report focuses on oil dependence, traffic congestion and global warming. Included in the report is a ranking of the top 50 transit agencies in the U.S. in terms of oil savings, gasoline cost savings, and carbon dioxide emission reductions savings.
