Performance evaluation of a full scale common effluent treatment plant (cetp) for a cluster of small scale cotton textile units

It has become very difficult for small scale industries to have their own wastewater treatment facility. The two main causes are nonavailability of land and skilled manpower to maintain the CETP. Keeping these aspects in view, a centralised wastewater treatment facility has been in operation for about four years. Basically, the treatment facility incorporated physico‐chemical and biological processes for a cluster of small scale cotton textile units. The raw wastewater is highly alkaline with BOD and COD of 310 and 1198 mg/L, respectively. The treated wastewater quality in terms of BOD and COD is 32–34 and 254–622 mg/L, respectively. The colour could not be removed completely but the intensity of colour was reduced considerably.
