Design, Analysis, Manufacture and Experiment of Glass/Epoxy Composite laminate blade for 50 KW Wind Turbine

In this project, the design, analysis, manufacture, and experiment of the glass/epoxy composite laminate blade for 50 kw wind turbine are performed. The pressures distributed on the blade are determined through the computational fluid dynamic method (CFDM). The structural analysis of the blade is performed by the finite element method (FEM). An indirect coupling method between the CFDM and FEM is proposed to calculate the deflection of the blade. The pressures on the blade surface calculated from CFDM are integrated to become the forces that can be used directly in the test and the structural analysis. A new and simple experimental set is developed to do the static test to get the deflection of the composite wind blade. The deflections obtained from the analytical results agree very well with the experimental data. The higher stresses over the laminate ultimate stress are observed at the root of the blade that contact with the hub.
