An Effective Practical Model-Based Detectability Tool

This paper builds on the ability to produce a comprehensive automated set of component fault– observation relations for vehicle on-board systems using qualitative model based reasoning techniques. Observations are typically expensive (in the broadest sense) and the problem addressed by this paper is how to allow selection of a set of observations that fulfils the detectability/diagnosability requirements of the system. This paper documents a tool that provides an engineer with easy access to information about diagnostic capability via a matrix visualisation technique.
