Delineation of sub-seismic faults - a new approach : Kuwait Example

Summary: Contribution of small faults and fractures in enhancing porosity and permeability of tight carbonate reservoirs is well established. The precise mapping of these small faults on seismic is important. Spectral decomposition has been used for identification of appropriate frequency band (Satinder et al., 2008) that preserves the desired features. Fault mapping at preJurassic levels was found to be challenging where fault throws were not seen. Workstation based post stack processing of the seismic data has been attempted to preserve appropriate signal band and this has enhanced subtle faults. This approach has helped in proper placement of faults on seismic data.
