Metastatic carcinoma of the mandible secondary to adenocarcinoma of the lung. Report of a case.

Abstract A case of metastatic carcinoma of the mandible, secondary to adenocarcinoma of the lung, has been presented. Few cases of this nature have been reported in the dental literature. This case is also rare in that the patient first visited a dentist for treatment of pain in the mandible. Biopsy of tissue from the mandible led to the first diagnosis of carcinoma and initiated the search for the primary tumor. This was discovered, upon autopsy, to be an adenocarcinoma located in the right upper lobe of the lung.
