Target tracking system in littoral environment

Target tracking is challenging task in littoral environment due to the complexity of the interferences such as land clutter, sea clutter, variety of the targets such as fishing boats to tankers. This paper presents a knowledge-based multi-target tracking system which operates successfully in this kind of complex environment. To deal with excessive number of false tracks due to the littoral clutter, the track initiation and survival levels of tracking system are modified. The terrain map is used to supress the littoral clutter which causes the problem at track initiation step and false track survival for the targets moves towards the coast line. The results are presented for real radar data to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach.
