Creating the culture for innovation

Many managers tend to be wary of innovation. Intellectually, they are all in favour of it. They recognize that the future of the business in a rapidly changing world, depends on its ability to innovate. To be logical, analytical, orderly, decisive, 'right first time', and aggressively single-minded are valuable qualities for dealing with one part of a manager's role the efficient running of today's business. But to create the business of tomorrow, i.e., to innovate, and encourage innovation from others, calls for quite different qualities and behaviors, and these are the subject matter of this article, i.e. creating culture for innovation.
