Development Planning of the Freeway Transportation Informatization and Intellectualization

Freeway management departments have acquired remarkable achievement in transportation informatization, constructed some application system, such as freeway GIS system, traffic monitoring system, net toll system, etc. But there exist some shortagesin these systems. According to the development trend of ITS overseas, and combining the real situation in home, the authors divided the informatization and intellectualization system of freeway into four parts, they are: road management system, traffic management system, toll collection management system, and information sharing and service system. Then, the system generalized frame and its functions were discussed, meanwhile, the construction principles and procedure were presented.
