Experiential educational environments for cultural heritage

Recent advances in multimedia, presentation technologies, graphics and open source have triggered the possible applications of technology as well as the spawn of innovation. As far as Crete is concerned there have been a lot of applications that take advantage multimedia and middleware architectures in order to build innovative services for museums and cultural heritage bodies. The current paper documents the work undertaken by the Multimedia and Content lab of Technological Educational Institute of Crete in order to create an innovative platform for the deployment of educational activities in Museums using the internet, and modern three dimensional technologies for smart devices.
