Faster development and more intensiveimplementation of photovoltaic (PV) technologies in Croatia is the main goal of a complex technological project titled: " Development of Stand-alone Photovoltaic Systems". Technologically, it encompasses component development and system organization, and economically, an analysis will be required for determination of limiting capacities, commercially viable in respect of our climatic conditions. The project is composed of 10 sub-projects taking into account equal representation of all Croatian regions as well as diversity of applications the most appropriate to a specific location. Thus, a PV pumped irrigation system is envisaged in Osijek, a railroad PV-powered signal crossing in Daruvar, a drinking water system in Pazin, a PV-pumped water supply for cattle on the island of Krk, a sea water desalination unit on the islan of Hvar, PV public lighting in the vicinity of Dubrovnik as well as a general purpose mobile PV electricity generator. A Laboratory PV pumping system will be built at the Faculty of Electrotechnics and computing in Zagreb for measurements and analyses as a support to development as well as those for development of intelligent processing and expert systems also, as a support to development of applicationsand commercialization of solar photovoltaic systems.
