Vulnerability Assessment for Power Grid Based on Small-world Topological Model

A new method for the vulnerability assessment of large-scale power grid based on the small-world topological model is proposed to study the intrinsic spreading mechanism of the chain failure in a large-scale power grid in this paper. It assesses the vulnerability of a power grid by the network topology modeling, the basic characteristic parameters, the fault simulation and the calculation of the maximum power supply area of the grid. The simulation results of a practical large power grid show that the structural vulnerability of power grid is closely related to the topological structure, which verifies the method proposed is reasonable and effective.
