General design algorithm for a hybrid hysteresis motor based on mathematical modeling

Hysteresis motors have drawn attention due to their positive features like constant torque production, low starting current and high speed capability. Consequently, many research and articles have been published about both modeling and design of these structures. However, there is no straightforward approach to design or even model these machines. In this paper, attempts have been made in order to make use of conventional design parameters in the output equation to achieve a simplified design algorithm. To do so, an available prototyped hybrid hysteresis structure has been selected and all of the modeling and analytical approaches are extracted. A field analysis has been made where an equivalent circuit is achieved and the output power and torque have been calculated. To verify the achieved results, some comparisons are conducted between the modeling and Finite Element Analysis outcomes. Finally, the extracted results are evaluated by testing the prototype at some specific working points.
