High gain 4 × 4 slot dipole antenna array in the 5GHz band

A novel high gain slot dipole antenna array fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) for 5GHz band wireless local area network (WLAN) application is proposed. Antenna element of our proposed antenna array is one sided directional slot antenna with bottom floating metal layer. This antenna array has 16 antenna elements to achieve a high gain. The RF signal is injected by CPW transmission line. The simulation and the measurement results of return losses, antenna gains and radiation patterns are presented in this paper. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 800MHz and the maximum peak gain is 10.7dBi at 5.85GHz.
