Different topologies for linear switched reluctance motor with segmental translator

Linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM) with segmental translator is introduced in this paper and two different topologies are presented for this type of motor. In addition, the electromagnetic modeling of these new types of LSRM is done using ANSYS finite element (FE) package. Carrying out 2D FE transient analysis using the developed simulation models, the dynamic characteristics of these two motors are predicted precisely. The simulation models are created totally in ANSYS parametric design language as parametric models and they can be used easily for different designs. The simulation results are presented for the two new structures and they are compared to those obtained for the conventional LSRM.
