Surface Desorption Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry for Rapid Analysis of Capmhor Wood Products

Without sample pretreatment,a home-made surface desorption atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry(SDAPCI-MS) was used to obtain the fingerprint of camphor wood and common wood sample. The MS data were further analyzed by principal component analysis(PCA).The results show that the SDAPCI-MS is able to detect some characteristic chemicals such as camphor and geraniol from the wood surface and identify the components by tandem mass spectrometry(MS/MS).PCA of the mass spectral fingerprint data was used to differentiate the samples from category and quality. The method developed here is attractive by showing the advantages of no sample pretreatment, high sensitivity and high analytical speed(less than 3min per sample),and thus provides a fast and effective method to screen wood quality.
