Design and Implementation of Web-Based 3D Visualization System for Molecular Structures

The complexity of biological data leads to the study of biological information by visualization method.Moreover,Web is a new medium for visualization work,so it is necessary to design a web-based 3D visualization system for biological data from remote places.The paper studies how to transfer raw data and visualization tools from remote places in Web environment.The scheme of web-based 3D visualization system for molecular structures is designed and the molecular structures visualization prototype in Web environment is realized.Eliminating the need for a thick client by requiring only a standard Web browser,the system enables users to view protein molecular structures remotely on their own computer easily.Performance tests of protein molecules with different number of atoms in different display modes show the feasibility of the system.This system helps us to analyze and utilize biological data by visualization method.
