Using heat of combustion data to estimate or assess some threshold flammability properties of materials

This paper gives a brief summary of recent studies using heat of combustion data to estimate or assess some threshold flammability properties of materials. Heat of combustion data can be used to estimate the lower flammability limit, upper flammability limit and minimum oxygen concentration for flame propagation of organic and organosilicon compounds. The data can also be used to assess the threshold oxygen pressure for the combustion of metal alloys in high-pressure oxygen environments. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
