Temperature sensors: New technologies on their way to industrial application

Abstract Recently fibre-optic temperature sensors and quartz temperature sensors have become available in forms suitable for industrial applications. The basic technology of these sensors will be reviewed and their advantages and disadvantages will be discussed in comparison to features of Pt resistance elements and with regard to general requirements.
