System and method for providing contents using rfid tags

A contents service system using an RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag and a method therefor are provided to convert detailed information of the RFID tag so that the converted information can be optimal to the specification of a mobile communication terminal, thereby improving efficiency in using contents of the RFID tag. A URL(Uniform Resource Locator) obtainer(310) acquires URL information where detailed information of an RFID tag is stored, by accessing an ODS(Object Directory Service) server, as ID information of the tag is transmitted. A tag detailed information obtainer(320) acquires the detailed information of the tag by accessing an OIS(Object Information Server), and configures the detailed information in a type which can be provided to a terminal to send the configured information to the terminal. As the terminal selects one piece of the detailed information, a terminal standard checker(330) obtains specification information of the terminal from a terminal information service server by using terminal information sent together with the ID information of the tag from the terminal. A transcoder(350) converts the detailed information of the tag configured as the suppliable type according to obtained terminal specification.
