Determination of Electrical Energy Costs for Transmission Networks using Alternating Current Power Transfer Distribution Factors (AC-PTDF)

This paper provides an algorithm that can calculate the electrical energy cost for transmission networks by alternating current power transfer distribution factors (AC-PTDF). The proposed algorithm was formulated and programmed using the software Matlab. Matlab was used for the actual data gathering using the IEEE bus 14 system and the Wood & Wollenberg 6-Bus System. The results were also validated using Power World software. The proposed algorithm was used to calculate the power flow and AC-PTDF for both systems and the MW-Mile method was used to calculate the electrical energy cost. After the simulations, the results show that the distance and PTDFs of the transaction of Bus Networks determine the electrical energy cost. Also, the increase of Power injection through the transaction increases the electrical energy cost of the whole system.
