RAINFALL DISAGGREGATION MODEL FOR CONTINUOUS HYDROLOGIC MODELING

Two practical precipitation disaggregation models are developed for use with continuous simulation models. Both disaggregation models are developed for use with a continuous sequence of hourly rainfall volumes. The first model is based on a discrete distribution approach and is applicble to problems involving a disaggregation time interval of 20 min. The second model is based on a continuous distribution approach and is applicable to problems involving disaggregation time intervals of between 1-30 min. The proposed model yielded good results. For the stations examined, the use of the synthetic distributions did allow a more accurate prediction of the peak flow frequencies than was obtained using average distributions.
