Toward a Framework of Organizational Effectiveness

Abstract : This paper describes a new conceptual framework of organizational effectiveness. The framework has three distinctive features: (1) it provides a definition of organizational effectiveness built around the concepts of outcomes, constraints and referents; (2) it delineates three subsystems on which effectiveness can be assessed as well as relevant determinants; and (3) it develops the notion of internal and external constituencies which affect the definition of effectiveness.
