The exploitation of solar and wind resources is a rapidly growing area on electricity market due to the fact that they are being increasingly recognized as cost effective generation sources. Integrating these energy sources on to a distribution system can either positively or negatively affect the system reliability. In this paper the impact of wind/PV (photovoltaic) hybrid generation, when integrated as alternative supply, on the existing rural distribution system is investigated. Furthermore, the results obtained from this investigation are then compared with those from the integration of a single wind farm to demonstrate the benefits derived from the integration of the hybrid generation system.
