A New Method for the Power System Topology Analysis Based on Graphic Modeling

The issue of topology analysis of a power system is studied. The linkage of the components, coloring for the electrified components, the branches type identification, the merging of impedance-free components and nodes numbering in the power network diagram are the basis for the energy management system (EMS), and are also very helpful for the dispatchers to make correct decisions and judgments. Based on the graphic modeling, a new algorithm using the depth first search strategy (DFS) to implement the topology analysis is presented. Through the new algorithm, such functions as identifying the electrified components and branches type, the merging of impedance-free components, numbering the nodes and subnets can all be completed by ransacking only once, with higher efficiency compared to other algorithms.
