Membrane separation for sulfur reduction

The membrane process for removing sulfur species from a naphtha feed, particularly FCC naphtha, light catalytically without substantial loss of olefin yield is disclosed. The process, preferably comprises contacting the sulfur-rich film and the naphtha feed stream having a sufficient flux and selectivity to separate a sulfur-deficient non-permeate from the permeate fraction fractionated under pervaporation conditions. Sulfur-deficient non-permeate fraction is directly useful in the gasoline pool, even if they are. Sulfur-rich permeate fraction is further processed by a sulfur-containing aromatic and non-aromatic hydrocarbons are abundant, conventional sulfur reduction technology, e.g., hydrotreating is reduced sulfur content. The method of the present invention provides a high quality naphtha products having a reduced sulfur content and a high content of the olefin compound.
